What is solder for electronic components 60/40 rosin core?
The solder for electronic components 60/40 rosin core is a solder wire that is consisted of tin and lead, the content respectively for tin and lead is 60% and 40% by weight, and it comes with a rosin core as flux. This is a solder wire composition that commonly used for electronic components soldering, besides the solder wire 63/37 and solder wire 40/60.
Why choose solder for electronic components 60/40 rosin core?
1. Solder wire 60/40 is very similar to 63/37 solder wire (the eutectic alloy), with a low melting point 183 to 190℃ only, very small plastic range. And this solder wire 60/40 has very good shearing strength, bonding strength and good electrical conductivity. And cost wise, it's a bit cheaper than solder wire 63/37.
2. The solder wire 60/40 rosin core, is already made with flux inside the core, so during using there's no need to apply external flux, simply and handy for most of the users. While rosin core is a neutral, non aggressive flux, which generally leaves very little, transparent and non corrosive residue on the solder joint which requires no cleaning, suitable to be used for electronic components soldering. Please do NOT use an acid core solder wire to solder the electronic components, because the acid core is too aggressive and the residue would corrode the solder joint in a long run.
