What is kester solder wire 60/40?

The kester solder wire 60/40 is a tin & lead alloy solder wire, composed of 60% tin and balance 40% lead. It's one of the most widely used solder wire among the tin lead solder family, besides the solder wire 63/37.

The kester solder wire 60/40 can be used for soldering of electronic components, also be used for soldering of metals.

The kester solder wire 60/40 used for electronic soldering, all owing to the superior properties of this alloy, it's very close to the eutectic solder alloy 63/37, with very limited pasty range, it takes lower working temperature than the lead free solder wire. It has good wetting property and fluidity, it forms the solder joint fast and smoothly, also the electrical conductivity is superb. 

And when kester solder wire 60/40 is used for other applications such as for copper plumbing joining, copper roofing seaming joining, assembling of stain glass etc, it's very ideal, for it's good bonding strength and easy to work with.

Make sure you specify the right type of core, as there generally 3 options of core to work with: rosin flux core, acid core and solid core. Rosin flux core kester solder wire 60/40 is designed for electronic soldering purpose, acid core kester solder wire 60/40 is for soldering of metals, solid core kester solder wire 60/40 is for the case that client prefer to apply external flux by themselves (special case).
