What is Rosin Core Solder Wire?

Rosin Core Solder Wire is a solder wire that is injected with a flux core during casting of the wire. If we look at the section of the wire, we can notice a white spot inside the wire, that's the rosin based flux. As we know, to perform a solder work, we will need a proper flux plus a proper solder. A solder alloy can't well flow & join the ICs unless we use a flux. So making a solder wire pre flux, is to make the solder wire handly and easy to use, especially for DIY or repairing works, that users are not very skillful, such a pre fluxed rosin core solder wire is a good option. For manufacturing of electronics, we mean the factory that needs to do mass production, such as rosin core solder wire is good option too, as it enhance the soldering speed which means more yield rate of production.

 

Basic parameter of Rosin Core Solder Wire:

1. Alloy: it can be lead free solder wire & leaded solder wire, both these two types can be made with rosin core. Most commonly used alloy will be SAC305, SAC0307, SAC07, Sn63Pb37, Sn60Pb40, Sn40Pb60.

2. Rosin flux percentage: standard is 2.2%, it's good enough for most generally applications.

3. Type of rosin core: no clean type. The residue after soldering is transparent and very little, also non corrosive, thus it's not a must to clean it.

4. Wire diameter: it can be made from 0.2mm up to 3.2mm

5. Weight per roll: from 50g to 1000g/roll. Small rolls are ideal for reselling purpose. Bigger rolls are good for manufacturer.
