What is sac305 solder bar?

Sac305 solder bar is a lead free solder bar, that is consisted of tin, silver and copper. SAC represents Sn (tin), Ag (silver) and Cu (copper), 305 represents the compostion of each metal, 3 means the silver is 3.0% inside the solder bar, 05 means the copper content is 0.5%, while remaining 96.5% is the tin, thus it's also written as Sn96.5Ag3.0Cu0.5 solder bar. This type of solder bar is ROHS compliant product.

What is sac305 solder bar used for?

It's used for dip soldering or wave soldering electronics products. The solder bar is molten in wave soldering machine or solder bath, and PCB is sprayed with compatible flux and then dip into the molten solder. It's very convenient and high productivity way of electronic manufacturing.

Why using sac305 solder bar?

It contains high silver at 3%, adding silver is to help the solder joint to be smooth and round, bright, also mechanically leak-tight, and physically to be more elelectically conducitive and more corrosion resistant. While adding copper into the solder is to improve the resistance to thermal cycle fatigue and to improve the wetting property of molten solder.
