What does lead solder wire mean?
It's a solder wire that is made with tin & lead mixed together, in the market some people call it tin solder wire, some call it leaded solder wire or lead solder wire. It's just one big catogary of solder, besides the lead free solder wire. Before lead free solder wire was invented, all applications of soldering was done with lead solder.
Basic technical data of lead solder wire:
1. Alloy: lead solder wire is available in may alloys, such as Sn63Pb37 (63% tin & 37% lead), Sn60Pb40 (60% tin & 40% lead), Sn50Pb50 (50% tin & 50% lead), Sn40Pb60 (40% tin & 60%) etc, also there are many customized alloy that can be made upon order.
2. Wire diameter: lead solder wire can be made from 0.5mm up to 3.2mm wire diameter. In most general cases, wire diameter less than 2mm types are more widely used. Some big wire diameters are majorly used for soldering plumbing pipes, stained glass, radiators etc.
3. Weight per roll: lead solder wire can be made into smll rolls like 50g/roll, 100g/roll, 200g/roll or bigger rolls like 500g/roll, 1000g/roll etc. Some radiator factories might need a big roll like 5kgs/roll or 10kgs/roll.
Lead free solder is convenient and handy to use, also it's with lower metling point when comparing to lead free solder wire.
