What compositions are Tin wire solder?

We can classify tin wire solder into two product groups depending if it contains lead:

1. Lead free tin wire solder. This type of solder is composed of tin as main composition, alloyed with silver & copper. Commonly seen alloys are SAC305, SAC0307, SAC07.

2. Leaded tin wire solder. This type is composed of tin and lead. Common alloys are Sn63Pb37, Sn60Pb40, Sn50Pb50, Sn40Pb60 down to Sn10Pb90.

It depends on the market requirements & quality requirements to choose what alloy to use. If the finished product has to meet ROHS or REACH standards, then lead free solder will be needed. If there is no such requirement, it would be upto users what to use as long as the mechanical properties can meet the product quality.

What tin wire solder is used for?

Tin wire solder can be used for assembly of electronic components through manual soldering or robot soldering, also it can be used for plumbing soldering, stained glass soldering, radiator soldering etc.
