What is tin copper solder?

Tin copper solder is one type of solder that is consisted of tin & copper, with different compositions. This type of solder is tin based, lead free composition that can comply with ROHS or REACH certifications.

How many types of tin copper solder?

Basing on the shape, we can have tin copper solder in wire form, or in a bar form.

Basing on the composition of tin & copper, it can be Sn99.3Cu0.7 solder, Sn99Cu1 solder or Sn97Cu3 solder etc.

What is the application of tin copper solder?

1. For soldering electronics, we can use Sn99.3Cu0.7

2. For soldering plumbing pipes (copper pipes & fittings), we can use Sn97Cu3.

Why do we add copper into the solder?

Adding copper into tin based solder, is to improve resistance to thermal cycle fatigue, and improves wetting properties of the molten solder.
