What is lead solder bar?

Lead solder bar is a solder alloy that is made with lead & tin as basic metals. The lead & tin are well mixed at a certain portion and mixed in a smelter, it would depend on the actual applications and budget to choose what composition to use. The lead solder bar can be made into Sn63Pb37 solder bar (63% of tin, 37% lead), Sn60Pb40 solder bar (60% of tin, 40% tin), Sn50Pb50 Solder Bar (50% tin & 50% lead), Sn40Pb60 Solder Bar (40% tin and 60% lead). The higher lead it is, the softer the solder would be, the higher melting point it would be, also the cheaper it would be.

What is the application of lead solder bar?

lead solder bar can be used for many applications, such as soldering for electronics or soldering of metals.

Dip soldering or wave soldering of electronics:

Sn63Pb37 solder bar, SN60Pb40 solder bar, Sn50Pb50 solder bar generally will be used for high quality requirements electronics. And Sn40Pb60 or some higher lead solder bar such as Sn20Pb80, can be used for some medium or low quality requirement applciations.

Soldering of metal sheets or pipes:

Sn60Pb40 solder bar can be used for soldering stained glass

Sn50Pb50 lead solder bar can be used for soldering copper roofing

Sn40Pb60 lead solder bar can be used for copper pipes & fittings.

Sn20Pb80 or Sn25Pb75 solder bar can be used for soldering radiators etc.
