What does sn99 solder mean?

Sn stands for tin, 99 standards for the composition is with 99% of tin. So a Sn99 solder is a tin based solder that is consisted of 99% tin and remaining 1% generally is copper, so it's known as Sn99Cu1 solder.

What is sn99 solder used for?

Sn99 solder is used for soldering copper plumbing pipes, and used for soldering electronics product. This solder alloy is lead free that complies with ROHS regulation. If Sn99 solder is used for soldering plumbing pipes, a big wire diameter of 2.7mm or 3mm with solid core (without flux) will be used. If for soldering electronics, a small wire diameter will be used such as 0.8mm, 1mm etc.
