What is solder lead?

Solder lead is a lead based solder, generally it's a lead & tin alloy solder and it can be made into different composition basing on the portion of lead & tin. Solder lead can be in different product shapes, most commonly seen & used ones are solder wires & solder bars.

What compositions are solder lead & their applications:

1. Solder lead of Sn63Pb37 (63% of tin & 37% lead). Used for electronics soldering and electrical tinning etc. It's eutectic solder lead alloy and very easy to work with, with good fluidity, rapid melting, good electrical conductivity, good thermal fatigue resistance.

2. Solder lead of Sn60Pb40 (60% of tin & 40% lead). It's very similar alloy to Sn63Pb37 solder lead, but cost is slightly cheaper. Besides being used for electronics soldering, this solder lead alloy is frequently used for assembly of stained glass (in solid wire).

3. Solder lead of Sn50Pb50 (50% of tin & 50% lead). It's used for electronics manufacturing, and also assembly of copper sheets, commonly seen to be used for copper roofing soldering and in a presence of bar solder 50 50.

4. Solder lead of Sn40Pb60 (40% of tin & 60% lead). It's used for general eleconics manufacturing or repairing, with medium quality requirement. It's also commonly used for soldering of radiators.
