Solder 60/40 temperature
What is solder 60/40?
The solder 60/40 means this is a solder alloy made of tin and lead, the tin is 60% and the 40% is lead. This is one of the mostly used tin lead alloy among the leaded solder family.
What is the solder 60/40 temperature?
First we have to know about the melting point of solder 60/40. The solder 60/40 is close the eutectic solder 63/37, the 63/37 has a melting point of 183℃ (liquidus temperature and solidus temperature is same), while the solder 60/40 has very small plastic range, with melting point 183 to 190℃.
And generally we suggest that the solder temperature to be about 50 to 80 ℃ higher than melting point, thus the solder 60/40 temperature should be around 250 to 260℃.
How many forms of solder 60/40 temperature that we have?
We have the solder 60/40 in wire solder and bar solder. Generally the 60/40 wire solder would be used for manual soldering or feed soldering; while the bar solder would be used for wave soldering or dip soldering, or used for installation or repair of metal roofing, gutters, flashing, drainage pipes etc.
