What is flux core solder wire?

There are two types of solder wire judging by the core, one is solid solder wire (also called as solid core solder wire), and the other one is flux core solder wire. So a flux core solder wire is actually a pre fluxed solder, during the manufacturing process, a proper percentage of rosin flux will be added into the soldering wire (in the core area of the solder) during the wire casting process. 

Why do we need flux core solder wire?

The technical reason is, to do a soldering, we will definitely need to apply flux along with our solder wire, as flux will helps to chean the surface of the joint area & help the solder wire to easily melt & flow to cover the joint area and form a nice solder bead. It's just a matter of fact that you want to use an external flux if you choose solid solder wire, or to use a pre fluxed flux core solder wire (no external flux is needed). The flux core solder wire is very handy to use, and can greatly save the time need for soldering, thus it's becoming more and more accepted and adopted in many soldering work.

What flux does XF Solder use for the flux core solder wire?

We use high purity virgin rosin as base and add neccessary flux as formula to form the flux core. It's ROL0 or ROL1, which requires no clean after soldering, easy to use.
